The original Model T intake and exhaust systems are severely restricted. The Major performance limiting factor is not the carburetor but rather the intake manifold. The cast iron intake manifold was designed more like a governor than a manifold and restricts air flow so that the car can be operated using any kind of fuel available. The engine performance can be significantly improved by simply replacing the intake manifold with a high volume manifold. This enables the carbonator to perform to it's maximum efficiency. Increasing the volume of the exhaust manifold relieves the back pressure and allows the engine to breath properly on both intake and exhaust. |
